One of the most important features we look for in a cordless vacuum cleaner is how long it can run before we have to put it back on its charging dock.
During the test, the Crosswave X7 lasted around 38 minutes on a single charge, which is more than enough time to vacuum everyday mess.
However, unlike the Crosswave Max, the X7’s battery took 4 hours to recharge. I will get into this area later on.
Cleaning Performance
Many of you are probably wondering how the Bissell Crosswave X7 performed during those 38 minutes.
Well, in a nutshell, it did an outstanding job. It didn’t have any issues cleaning up dry and wet messes or pet hair. It also provided streak-free cleaning. Thus, you can easily rely on this vacuum to restore the luster of your floor in just a few minutes.
The tests were performed on hardwood floors, tile floors, as well as on low, mid, and high pile carpets. While it did well in all these areas, its performance on high-pile carpets was somewhat disappointing.
The Bissell Crosswave X7 has three cleaning modes: hard floors, area rugs, and turbo mode. While the hard floor and area rug modes are self-explanatory, it is in turbo mode where the magic occurs.

This vacuum scored up to 74 dBa, which is on the loud side of things. I wouldn’t recommend using it if you’ve got people sleeping in the next room you wish to clean.
The Rest of the Features
Starting with the design, the Bissell Crosswave X7 has a great layout that makes it easy to use, even if you’re unfamiliar with wet/dry vacuum cleaners. It also has a comfy grip that feels great no matter how long you hold it.
The power on/off button and the mode selection switch are both located near the handle. However, the switch for replenishing the solution is on the rear side of the gripe.
The Bissell Crosswave X7 assembly procedure is similar to that of a Lego toy. All you have to do is attach the handle to the body, and you’re done. You won’t need the instruction manual to figure out how to do it.
Also, the entire maintenance process took around 5 minutes, which is a considerable advantage, particularly when compared to the Crosswave Max.
I also like how the screen of the Bissell Crosswave X7 displays an icon that corresponds to the current cleaning mode. When I’m overwhelmed with household chores, I get quickly distracted.

Things About the Bissell Crosswave X7 I Wish Were Different
As with every product, the Bissell Crosswave X7 is not a perfect vacuum cleaner. In other words, I’ve found a few weak spots I’d like to share with you.
Let’s start with the price. The Bissell Crosswave X7 is relatively expensive, especially when compared to the Crosswave Max. Even though it has performed exceptionally well, I feel it could have been a little more affordable. (This is purely subjective, by the way.)
Putting the Bissell Crosswave X7 together is indeed a breeze. Detaching the handle from the body, on the other hand, was a whole different story.
To detach the handle, you’ll have to remove the top water tank (the one with clean water) and then insert a pen or pencil into the hole to release the handle. I think they could have found a better way to take off the handle, but that’s just my opinion.
Mopping the floor with the Bissell Crosswave X7 left the surface slightly damp, primarily when used on tile floors. As a result, if you want your floor to dry quickly, you’ll have to go over the same area again using the drying mode.

On the other hand, we have the Bissell Crosswave Max, a high-quality wet/dry vacuum with some neat features.
It boasts a new electrical system, a thicker brush, a longer battery life, and a new water tank design that makes it easier to put into sinks than its predecessors. Stick with us to learn more about this wonderful vacuum cleaner.
Battery Life
The Bissell Crosswave Max’s battery, like the Crosswave X7’s, had an average runtime of about 40 minutes before it ran out of energy. This should give you enough time to clean everything on a single charge.
Please keep in mind, however, that the result may vary depending on how often you use the water-spraying mechanism.
The recharge time was around 193 minutes, which is less than the Crosswave X7. The only drawback of the battery is that it cannot be removed, which is also the case for the Crosswave X7.
Cleaning Performance
The cleaning performance of the Bissell Crosswave Max on hard floors was fantastic. It had enough suction power to remove everyday messes such as pet hair, fine dust, large objects like cereals, etc.
In addition, its performance against wet spills was as good as against dry messes.
However, the Bissell Crosswave Max’s cleaning performance on high-pile carpets wasn’t as good as on hard surfaces. While it did “okay” on low-pile rugs, on high-pile ones, it was terrible.
It’s worth mentioning that the poor carpet cleaning performance was due to a lack of suction power. The insufficient suction power has also translated into weak performance in cracks and crevices.
Noise Level
The Bissell Crosswave Max produced a noise level of around 71.8 dBA on a low pile carpet and approximately 74.9 dBA on bare floors, which is quite loud.
The Rest of the Features
The Bissell Crosswave Max has several interesting features that have piqued my interest.
First things first, this vacuum’s floorhead pivots well, making it easier to clean tight spaces and under furniture.
The unit’s overall weight is just around 11.5 lbs. Thus, it won’t cause any discomfort to your forearm, even during long cleaning sessions.
Also, once you put the Bissell Crosswave Max on its charging dock, you can use the self-cleaning feature, which is surprisingly helpful.
The build quality of the Bissell Crosswave Max is solid. It’s mainly composed of hard plastic, with just the wand made of aluminum. And thus, it should last for several years if properly maintained.
What I Didn’t Like About the Bissell Crosswave Max
Now, let’s talk about the areas I didn’t like regarding the Bissell Crosswave Max.
From what I can tell, the Crosswave Max’s main flaw is its water tank. It takes a lot of time to clean it, especially after vacuuming a wet mess.
What complicates things even more is that you have to wash it after each cleaning session, since dirty water is the ideal breeding ground for germs.
Another flaw I find unjustified is the lack of a turn-on/off switch for the brush roll. The absence of this feature makes the Bissell Crosswave Max unsuitable for delicate surfaces such as ruggable rugs.
The next disadvantage has already been mentioned, but I’ll go over it briefly again. The suction power of the Bissell Crosswave Max is insufficient for cleaning mid- to long-pile carpets, as well as cracks and crevices.

Cleaning the Crosswave X7 water tank took about 5 minutes, less than half the time it took to clean the Crosswave Max.
There is no feature on the Crosswave Max that is analogous to the Crosswave X7’s Turbo Mode. And, as previously stated, it was game-changing since it could remove certain tenacious stains that Crosswave required considerably more effort and several passes to remove.
In addition, the Crosswave Max lacks a HEPA filter, which is a must-have for some people, particularly those with allergies.
However, this does not imply that the Crosswave Max is a complete failure. Not even close. First of all, the Crosswave Max features a more powerful battery.
It also takes less time to recharge, which can come in handy if you use the vacuum cleaner several times a day.
Moreover, it has many of the same cleaning functions as the Crosswave X7, such as a self-cleaning brush roll, an LED display, and more, but at a considerably lower price.
Who is The Real Winner?
